My new book has been released by Algora Publishing

My new book has been released by Algora PublishingIt is called:

Democrats and Republicans - Rhetoric and Reality

This is not a little humor book. This is a voluminous report.

- Paul Gallo, Supertalk Mississippi, 4/14/08

I was absolutely shocked when I picked up this book ... by Mr. Fried telling us about ourselves...

- George Putnam, CRN Radio, 4/24/08

This is an amazingly written book ... thicker than the bible!

Preston Nash, National Radio, 6/1/08

Are Democrats more tolerant than Republicans? Are they more intelligent? Who spends more time at work and who spends more time watching TV? Why are Republicans happier? Who are the real "Fat cats" (judged by Body Mass Index)? All of these questions, and many, many more, are answered in my new book, Democrats and Republicans - Rhetoric and Reality. It uses authoritative survey evidence and statistics to compare the conduct and achievements of the Democratic and Republican constituencies.

While researching the book, I was surprised by the many of the findings. For example, Democrats and Republicans have different tendencies with regard to trust, self-esteem,"apparent intelligence," political knowledge, mental health, happiness, work hours, and charity. These general differences are quantifiable and statistically significant. The charity gap is particularly great. After controlling for income level differences, I found a donations gap of over $50 billion - per year!

Interspersed among the findings are quotations from pundits, politicians, philosophers, celebrities, fruitcakes, etc. Although some of this rhetoric is strident, the book"s overall tone is objective - a refreshing alternative to the bombastic polemics we often see in modern political works. The last chapter comprises several constructive lessons that can be learned from the various Democratic-Republican comparisons.
